Buying a new HD TV put me on the hunt for good sources of HD programming. Something I overlooked for a while, and I’m sure I’m not alone, is over-the-air, free programming from local TV stations. We’re so used to the “antenna == bad” school of thought that the cablecos dished out for the last twenty years that we don’t even consider it.
Just a few days ago we learned that Sony Australia would dish out a free Playstation 3 with the purchase of any Bravia 1080p LCD TV. It appears that Sony has now expanded the program to include the U.S.—albeit with a few "minor" changes.

Unfortunately if you want to score this deal in the States you have to apply for a Sony Card in addition to purchasing a select Sony HDTV.
It is also a computer that runs Linux, the free open-source operating system. I know because it crashed once, and I got a command prompt. (Plus, the Dish people have Linux programming code posted on their Web site, as they're supposed to under the open-source license.)
