Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is a traditional North American holiday. First celebrated in what would become Canada in the late 1500's, Thanksgiving was later also celebrated in what would become the United States in the early 1600's. Today, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States.

More than 200 atheists are expected at Fern Forest Nature Preserve in Coconut Creek, FL for Darwin Day, an international festival that celebrates the importance of scientific inquiry and the accomplishments of Darwin, who brainstormed the theory of evolution by natural selection in 1838.

Prominent Midwestern independent film studio, Shadow Creek Studios, will showcase its latest award-winning film, It Came From Another World! at the Twin Cities Underground Film Festival, an event designed to celebrate up-and-coming filmmakers. The festival will be at the Sheraton Minneapolis Midtown Hotel on Saturday, August 4 and Sunday, August 5

Nickel Creek looks like they might be taking some time off, but they're currently out on a new tour, that started this last April. They will be playing at the Lyons, Colorado Blue Grass Festival, which always is a good time. I hope to be there myself.

The newest addition to Flying Dog's "litter of ales" will be a "Belgian-style Wit" (White) beer and will be called "Woody Creek White." The winning name was submitted by Tom Havey of Oregon. For his efforts, Havey wins a trip to Flying Dog's hometown of Denver, CO for a VIP Brewery Tour and 3-day pass to the 2007 Great American Beer Festival.
